DISEC
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is a key body of the United Nations General Assembly that addresses issues related to international peace and security. DISEC focuses on disarmament, global arms control, and challenges posed by international threats to security. It works to promote multilateral dialogue and cooperation among member states on matters such as the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, conventional arms trade, and the regulation of emerging military technologies. Through resolutions and debates, DISEC supports efforts to reduce global armaments, prevent armed conflict, and strengthen international security frameworks. It plays a vital role in fostering peace, stability, and international cooperation by promoting transparency, confidence-building measures, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Amog Nair
DISEC CHAIR
Amog Nair is a graduate of Christ University and holds a Master’s degree in Space and Telecom Law from NALSAR University. He has extensively studied Political Science and International Relations and has participated in numerous Model United Nations conferences in various capacities over the years. His academic and professional interests lie in geopolitics, international security, emerging technologies, and the often-overlooked world of sub rosa government programs and strategic affairs. Outside of MUNs, he enjoys researching unconventional national security topics, technology policy, and global power dynamics. He is delighted to serve as Chair of DISEC and looks forward to a productive and engaging committee session.
Ryan is a dedicated and dependable individual known for his curiosity, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. With a strong interest in diplomacy, global affairs, and scientific research, he enjoys exploring complex challenges from multiple perspectives. Beyond academics, he is actively involved in leadership initiatives, community service, and music, bringing both enthusiasm and creativity to every endeavour. Known for his wit and engaging personality, Apollo believes that meaningful discussions are best accompanied by a healthy dose of humour. As Vice Chair of DISEC, he looks forward to fostering insightful debate and an enriching committee experience for all delegates.
