DISEC
The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is a key body of the United Nations General Assembly that addresses issues related to international peace and security. DISEC focuses on disarmament, global arms control, and challenges posed by international threats to security. It works to promote multilateral dialogue and cooperation among member states on matters such as the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons, conventional arms trade, and the regulation of emerging military technologies. Through resolutions and debates, DISEC supports efforts to reduce global armaments, prevent armed conflict, and strengthen international security frameworks. It plays a vital role in fostering peace, stability, and international cooperation by promoting transparency, confidence-building measures, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts.

Honourable delegates, welcome to the Disarmament and International Security Committee. It’s a true pleasure to be chairing DISEC at this conference. I’ve been part of the MUN circuit for over a decade now, and throughout that time, what’s kept me coming back is a deep curiosity about the world and a genuine interest in understanding the shifts—both subtle and seismic—that shape global affairs. As your Chair, my role is not just to moderate debate, but to help create a space where diplomacy, thoughtful dialogue, and meaningful engagement can thrive. I’m looking forward to the perspectives you’ll bring to the table and to the solutions we’ll build together.
